“After an informative and enjoyable induction week, taking place in bustling London and rural Wiltshire, I was plunged into a project in the pharmaceutical industry. My main tasks involved analysing data and customer interviews, in order to prepare slides for our report. I got to meet senior management and the client face to face, undertook a site visit and was able to contribute a lot to our output, despite my lack of experience. It was a steep learning curve, but thoroughly enjoyable and educational.” Christian

“My first few weeks at CIL have been a whirlwind learning experience. Immediately being allocated to a project, which I saw through from beginning to end; I was involved in face-to-face meetings with clients and drafting of the final report. Being thrown so quickly into a project was daunting but exciting and has taught me a considerable amount that will act as a sound basis for future work over the coming years. Additionally I have been able to generate a good balanced lifestyle between work, home and my passion for hockey. Not bad for four weeks.” Lara

"My first few weeks at CIL have lived up to my expectations of a varied and fast moving life in Management Consultancy. Within the first week I had been placed on a project in home improvement, working directly with the senior team. After only a few days, I had met the board members of the businesses involved. Since then, I have assisted in a few other projects, looking at fund administration, domiciliary care and private healthcare - not bad for the first few weeks and an exposure to the ins and outs of a project that I don't think I would have received anywhere else." Liam

“Having graduated just a few months before I started at CIL I was understandably nervous about my new career in consultancy. I needn’t have worried though. After a quick but thorough run through of CIL and its clients I was thrown into a project and there was no time to be nervous! I’ve been involved in three projects so far and feel that I’ve learnt so much so quickly. Meeting clients, talking to their customers and analysing market data have built up my confidence and I am loving being in the thick of consulting at CIL.” Sangeetha

What I enjoy about CIL

“The variety, the latitude, that everyone gets close to our clients, the people and the humour, the meritocratic culture (i.e., the quality of the idea is what counts); the Christmas and summer parties; the great, and hugely different, locations of both our offices. I like the privilege of operating at board level and meeting management teams who have interesting stories to tell about how they have built their businesses. Having worked here for a long time I like the fact that clients trust us and know what we are really good at.” Giles

“I joined from a massive FTSE 100 company, so meeting every CIL employee in the first week was strange… in a good way.  From the first week I was fully involved on real projects; working with directors, managing processes and presenting to clients. Having industry experience has been a definite benefit. Some people think consultants do not understand life in the ‘real world’ but knowing what a manufacturing site is like, understanding the tensions between sales and marketing, managing a product development process; all these experiences bring credibility and quality to the outputs I produce.” Jon
